Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I haven't worked a paid job caring for children, but I have 3 older siblings, and I've spent basically my entire life caring for their young children. My nephew is 10 years old and has autism, and I regularly spend 2-3 weeks at a time caring for him and doing activities with him while my brother is out-of-state working. My two young nieces (ages 5 and 7) also used to live with me, and I was responsible for helping them with homework, fixing their meals, helping at bath time, and keeping them entertained while my parents and sister were out of the house.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I think it's very important right now to foster creativity and literacy among young children, so rather than a lot of TV or phone time I like to do crafts, draw/color, read together, go to the park, play "pretend" games to grow imagination, and engage in good conversation! When it is time for TV, I like to put on shows like Wild Kratts and Bluey that foster emotional intelligence and curiosity about the world.
My experience with special needs children...
I've spent a lot of time caring for my 10 year old nephew who has autism, so I'm very used to taking special care with meals, emotional outbursts, and hygiene sensitivities. :)
