A little bit about me

Hello, My name is Belina. I speak fluent Portuguese and am proficient sn Spanish. I attended the University of Saint Joseph and hold a BA. I was a nanny for numerous families through the West Hartford New Comers Club. I worked full-time live in during the summer and during the school year I would float between families as needed. I have a ton of experience with children from 0-18 years of age. I traveled with these families for vacations, (Italy, Bahamas, Bermuda) and took care of the children (alone) for their couples vacations as well. In the summers I would float between families as each one wanted to take me to Cape Cod, Maine, Florida with the families. I am fun, energetic, highly motivated and dedicated. I do not want to be considered a nanny, I want to be considered family. I would prefer a fun, loving, child who enjoys extra curricular activities. I am comfortable with pets and have a strong educational background.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have many years experience with infants through adult children. I have also worked with special needs children. I am comfortable utilizing behavior modification plans and being consistent with the families culture, religion. I am open to any family structure/dynamics that utilizes an effective parenting style.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy taking the children to their extra curricular activities and enjoy encouraging their progress. On sunny days you will find us at the Beach, hiking or just out and about at play dates. During rainy days I love to take the kids to the Children's Museum or the library. Obviously, due to covid most our indoor activities would be localized to home. I am great at improvising and have no problem turning your living room into a library or making a tent/ t-pee to pretend for the day. I believe creative play is very important for children. I am a master of making play dough and using science while baking great cookies ;-).

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is showing the kids love, patience and guidance! Treating each and every child as you would your own and keeping with the family dynamics and rules, structure that the parents have set.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked/ implemented behavior plans, all consisting of Positive Rewards for children with autism and on the autistic spectrum. I also worked with children who were moderately to low functioning and attended their OT, PT and psych. appts. I am comfortable following a detailed curriculum and utilizing a tablet for communication.
