A little bit about me

Hello my name is Cleo! I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and I am the second in a family with three siblings. Care-taking has always come naturally to me and I have extensive experience working with children and families for many years. For the past year, I have been working with Special Needs adults and children professionally. I am a high energy person myself and love to help get kids motivated and moving. I am truly a people person and communication are truly a strong suit for me. I don't mind the household chores by any means and will be happy to pitch in at anytime. I also love to cook and bake, they are somewhat of a personal passion of mine so meal prep will be no problem for me. I am happy to do one time jobs as well as finding a long term nanny job! I am looking forward to meeting you and your kiddos!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

*Chrysalis: in-home caretaker for adults living with disabilties.
*Mana Training Consultants: in-home caretaker and tutor for children and teens with various challenges.
*Summer nanny for family with four children ages 4-12. I worked with this family for two years.
*Babysitter for family with four children ages 2 months - 10 years. This is an ongoing relationship that I continue to do on-call work for.
*The Motley Squad: volunteer work with neuro-divergent teens.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am very active and enjoy playing at the child's level whether it's a game of tag or card games or Barbies or Matchbox cars. I also love to get kids outside to play sports whether its kicking a soccer ball or shooting hoops or playing four-square. Reading to and with children is important to me as is making sure that they aren't spending too much time on screens. Being active and keeping kids busy and engaged is a hallmark of my caretaking style.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, creating a relationship with both the kids and the parents is paramount to understanding and being part of the family dynamic. It's important to me to develop a relationship with you and your children so that you both feel like you can trust and count on me. I also feel strongly about being active with kids and not just allowing screens to do the caretaking. This is sometimes a challenge, but as an energetic and enthusiastic person, it's something that I happily navigate because I know how important it is.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked professionally through a company called Mana in Provo, Utah where I worked with special needs teenagers. My responsibilities included being in the home and helping them work on the goals that were set for them in order to achieve THEIR highest level of independence. I also have a younger brother with autism and intellectual disability that I have helped to care for my whole life. Because of this experience, I am always been aware of and involved in the disability community. I believe this life experience has endowed me with a natural sense of patience and compassion, while also giving me the skills to be able to motivate and support individuals with special needs to reach their individual goals.
