Hi! I’m Danna, a 20 year old Kinesiology student at TWU. I’m on an Occupational Therapy track focusing on pediatrics. My studies have helped me bring a developmental perspective to childcare & I love creating activities that help kids reach motor and sensory milestones!

Beyond my academic studies, I have gained extensive experience caring for children in both instructional and professional settings. As a swim instructor, I have spent much of my time working with children of all ages, from infants to teenagers! Focusing on water safety, skill development, and building confidence. This role required me to maintain a high level of vigilance and clear communication with parents. Additionally, my background as a licensed cosmetologist has instilled in me a strong sense of professionalism, organization, and the ability to connect with people of all ages. Whether through private tutoring, mentoring, or structured planning in my coursework, I have consistently focused on creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for the children in my care. I am comfortable managing the needs of multiple children at once and am experienced in balancing fun activities with the necessary structure of a daily routine.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love staying active and engaging kids in playing with a purpose!!! My favorite days involve a mix of high-energy fun and creativity whether we're playing a game of badminton in the yard, creating elaborate chalk art on the driveway, or getting messy with a new painting project. Because of my Kinesiology background, I enjoy finding ways to make movement fun, like setting up backyard obstacle courses or swimming to build confidence. I’m all about finding that balance between a fun, creative afternoon and helping kids stay active and reach their milestones! 😊

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is being a dependable teammate for the family. I am naturally very clean and organized, so I take pride in helping the household run as smooth as possible, whether that’s keeping things tidy, handling laundry, or meal prep. My goal is to create an environment where the kids feel safe and confident to be themselves, while giving parents total peace of mind knowing the kids are thriving and the day to day tasks are taken care of!

My work is guided by my faith and a genuine desire to serve others. I strive to bring a kind, patient, and nurturing spirit into every home I work with, acting as a positive role model for the children in my care 🤍

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience working one-on-one with children with disabilities, including those on the Autism spectrum. My background includes facilitating private swim lessons tailored to individual sensory and motor needs, as well as academic coursework in Adapted Physical Education. In a clinical and classroom setting, I have designed and implemented personalized activity plans to help students navigate and progress within PE environments, weight rooms, and aquatic settings. I am passionate about using a developmental perspective to track progress and help children reach their sensory and motor milestones. My approach is rooted in patience and adaptability, ensuring every child feels supported while working toward their specific goals. I am also fully CPR, AED, and First Aid certified, providing an extra layer of safety and peace of mind for the families I support :)
