Hello! I'm Debbie, a grandma in training, devoted caregiver, and former career copywriter with a joyful spirit, nurturing heart, and a playful sense of humor. As a mom of two adults and an experienced caregiver of little ones, I bring warmth, creativity, and fun into every family I join. I’m someone kids can count on, whether it's for hugs, snacks, or help navigating a tricky tantrum. After a long career as a copywriter and building a small business, I followed my heart to kids and families. During college, I worked in daycare and as a part-time nanny for one of my favorite daycare families. Last year, I returned to caregiving for a toddler with special needs, who taught me about patience, flexibility, and meeting children where they are. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked in a daycare for four years, sparking my love of caring for children. I recently was a part time nanny to an 8-year-old after school. We played games, did homework, took walks, read books, and occasionally snuck out for ice cream.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, playing creative, age-appropriate games, taking walks, doing arts projects, age-appropriate cooking, having important conversations about things like fairies, excavators, dinosaurs, and superheroes, going on adventures, whether to the grocery store or the zoo, and lots of physical touch. Did I mention reading? Funny voices and full character profiles to boot. Anything your child enjoys, I'll make it more fun with creative, new ideas to keep children engaged and learning.

My experience with special needs children...

Although I don’t have medical experience, I learned a lot dealing with my daughter who was officially diagnosed with ADHD and unofficially with Autism. We’ve come a long way in the last 10 years. During that time I was also diagnosed with ADHD giving me a unique perspective. I’ve taken care of two adult men as a companion and assistant, which taught me about compassion. Last year I cared for a two-year old with a genetic disorder (and currently babysit often). He had low muscle tone which left him unable to walk and nonverbal. I learned how to care for him properly and be attentive to his special dietary and emotional needs. Not only did I become familiar and comfortable with his daily care, but I also improved his physical therapy by continuing exercises during the week. All this led to becoming quite bonded to him, which the family still values by including me in many family activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Every time a child lays their head on my shoulder, relaxes in my arms, or falls asleep in my lap while I'm reading. I know they're absolutely comfortable, at peace, and happy.
