I have worked with a mentor program, Big Brothers Big Sisters. I have babysat off and on since 12 years old. I was a primary teacher at church for over a year. I have also nannied for one infant.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love taking children on outings, whether that be to a class of some kind, the park, the zoo, the museum, or a simple walk around the neighborhood. I also enjoy arts and crafts, that has always been a hobby of mine, and it is fun to share. I love music, singing, dance, and I play the piano, which makes it that much more fun. I also enjoy reading and playing games. I have found that it is also enjoyable to teach children what I know about cooking, cleaning, and baking, and incorporating their help and curiosity as I teach.

The most important part about being a nanny is ensuring that the children in my care are being cared for and nurtured as they grow and develop.
My experience with special needs children...
I do have some experience working with children (mostly young boys) who have autism and ADHD. I have not cared extensively for any kind of special needs.

While I was nannying one day, the little girl I was with was not feeling well. She climbed up onto my lap, curled up on my chest. I rubbed her back for a few moments. After a few minutes, she looked up at me, smiled, and then went right back to playing.
