More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have cared for my nieces and nephews all through infancy and childhood since highschool as well as 1 year of day care experience and 2 years paid nannying. I care for all ages but have the most experience and specialize in infant and toddler care. Before my son was born I cared for an infant from 2 months to 13 months. Before that when I was in highschool I watched a 2 year old for 3 years 3 days a week after school from 3pm-9pm until he entered kindergarten. Preparation of bottled breast milk or formula, baby/toddler bathing, tummy time, screen-free interaction and communication are all well within my scope of experience.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy taking age appropriate children outside, playing hide and seek, coloring books, singing and dancing with babies/toddlers/young children, assisted rolling over, sitting up, and standing in babies at each developmental stage, and explaining important tasks and homework assignments to young children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about being a nanny is communication. Weather it's talking with babies to encourage social and emotional development, talking with toddlers and explaining things in a fun interactive way they can understand, communicating clearly with older children to understand their needs, communication with the parents about expectations and duties. Creating an environment between nanny, parents, and children of comfortable, free, open communication both ways is paramount to a successful nanny-family relationship so that everyone's needs are met and understood.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment was supervising on a trampoline in the backyard of a 4 kid family consisting of a 2, 4, 7, and 12 year old. Their joy that day was unforgettable.
