The most important part about being a nanny...
There are so many favorite moments that I have with my children but one particular family stands out. I was taking care of two little boys ages 4 and 5. One had autism, the other couldn’t see very well. Neither of them spoke any words, neither was potty trained, and neither could dress himself. I worked with them every day. One day (I had been taken care of them for over a year). I was getting ready to take them to the park. The 5 yr old took off his clothes and went to potty all by himself. “I did it, I did it” he yelled with the biggest smile on his face. His brother followed suite and did the same. They were soooo excited and talked non stop that day. As I sang songs to them (I always did) at the park, they sang along for the first time ever! When their mother came to pick them up, they ran to her talking non stop. She dropped to her knees and cried. I’d been working so hard with them and she thanked me so much. She couldn’t believe it.
