I worked for a family over 10 years, starting when the little girl was 3 years old (with learning disabilities) & an infant boy. The little girl had language-based learning disabilities and learning differences. During the time I lived in Chicago I volunteered at a mission providing transportation to school, doctors...running errands, helping tutor the kids afterschool well helping with homework.

Indoor activities are storytelling, craft projects that are age related, painting, coloring, baking, board games, puzzles. Outdoor activities are tag, going to the park, going to the pool, taking walks around the parks, and bird watching.

My experience with special needs children...
I worked for a family over 10 years, starting when the little girl was 3 years old (with learning disabilities) & an infant boy. The little girl had language-based learning disabilities and learning differences. I would take her to school starting at the age of 4 years old. She attended the Howard School in Atlanta. For example she had temper problems and would tear wallpaper in her room, throw books, sometimes squeeze her little brother to tight. I had to keep the little girl beside me at all times when she was not in school along with a new infant.
The most important part about being a nanny...
A funny memory that comes to mind is when I took the little boy and girl to the Chattahoochee River to feed the ducks. During feeding the ducks some geese flew in and started biting my fingers to get the food in my hand. I didn't realize geese had sharp teeth and when I got bit and it hurt both kids had the biggest belly laugh from the gut.
