Hello I’m Joy perry. Im a single mother living in Houston texas. I teach high school English. My goal is to relocate to Hawaii and get a job where I can learn the island while helping families who need help with their children and their lifestyle. I see it as a job, an adventure and part two of my life. I love kids so I see it as still teaching and education but in different aspects. I have two grown children, 25 and 27. Both live their own lives. One truth about me is that I am very optimistic, passionate and enthusiastic about being in a new environment. I thrive at experiencing new things. Most times I stay in my professional mode, but I can be relaxed when necessary too. I believe things should be as such and I act accordingly for the most part.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have two children I practically raised alone because I am an ex military wife. I was the mom who had all my kids’ friends with us when we went to the park, store, mall, restaurants, library or Barnes and nobles. So that’s one way I was a nanny. Plus I started out teaching middle school and teaching is the same thing as being a nanny but with education. Currently, I’ve been teaching high school for the past four years and so that is definitely being a nanny too but with learning as well. In my opinion, living a wonderful life involves learning, experiencing new things and growing to a higher elevated mind state. I am really good at opening young minds so they become successful and be great leaders for the future. As well as being a nanny, I am a person who understands that life is all about love, peace and being of service to others. This is what I do well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love the outdoors, nature, beaches, mountains, and anywhere there is beauty. I am a big kid at heart so it’s very easy for me to take kids to places that makes their eyes gleam with excitement and happy. And in turn that makes me happy and excited just to know I am making their day. I miss that feeling because my kids are grown now. Those were some of the best days of my life, watching my kids grow up and me being there to experience their happiness and joy. It’s priceless.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Watching kids grow, elevate and become part of the best person they were meant to be in this lifetime. It’s so awesome.

My experience with special needs children...

I have taught special needs children since the 6 years I have been teaching English. I actually do well with kids who are ADHD, autistic, Sped, and who have different ways of learning. It comes naturally for me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Well that’s a hard question. There’s too many moments for me to just pick one moment. But I’d say one memory which comes to mind now is about a day my daughter was on the porch and I was watching my kids and their cousins who had come to visit was playing outside. It was a beautiful sunny morning on a Sunday and they wanted to go outside and swim in the little pool I had bought them. I was looking off the side of the porch where they were and my daughter comes up to me and says, I love u Mommy.” And then she walks off the porch and gets in the pool. At that time she was only two years old but she was so smart and knew how to scoot herself off the porch without having any help. She was so independent for that age. Well when she said it, it took me by surprise because she sounded so clear and sweet. I then said awww thank you baby, “I love you too, Alima!” I will never forget that day for some reason.
