The most important part about being a nanny...
Helping kids feel comfortable and safe! spending time and giving my full attention to the kids! also i’m not a fan of electronics, i understand maybe 30 minutes a day of electronic time (if allowed). but typically i like to engage and have fun and talk and spend actual time together not online!
My experience with special needs children...
For years i have helped special needs kids at school everyday. and outside of school (my little sister is special needs) with school work, social skills, learning new things, spending time with them, helping them with what they want help with. treat them like a human being, help them feel comfortable. make them feel loved and appreciated. kindness matters!
The most important part about being a nanny...
learning new things and watching the kids grow. one time we were learning about letters and numbers and they had them mixed up so we spent at least two hours learning the difference and at some point he just gives up and goes well i’m going to try to spell your name and he goes “ka1tl7nn” and i said um well you got most of it correct but buddy there are no numbers in my name and he was genuinely confused so we went back through numbers and letters everyday until he finally was able to spell my name, his name, and whoever’s name he needed to and he was so happy and proud of himself and so was i! there are many more moments of course.
