I have two nieces, 4 and 2, that I have babysat and cared for. I have experience running various volleyball and ceramic camps for young children from 5-13. I also have experience watching after young adults with Down syndrome.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I have always loved exploring the outside world around me since I was a child and find that is such a valuable and interactive experience for children. Going on walks and making stories about the world just outside of home. I am an art education major and am inspired by the creativity of children. Various arts and crafts, story telling and making, game creating and playing and exploring are highlights of the nanny/babysitting experience for me.
The most important part about being a nanny...
As an art education major, I find the most valuable experiences are getting to see children be creative and explore their imagination. I think seeing the intellectual, creative and emotional growth of children is really special and brings such a positive perspective to people lives!
My experience with special needs children...
I have about 7 months of experience with after school care for an 18 year old girl with Down Syndrome. Our activities often including watching her favorite movies, singing and telling jokes!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny/babysitting moment was when I got to see a girl I babysat perform at a chorus concert. I would always watch her sing along to her favorite musical songs and seeing her perform was a really special moment for me.
