Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Graduate of the Nanny and Governess School in Chagrin Falls, Oh. 300 hour course on infant, toddler, young children and teenagers childhood development and behavior. Was a nanny for a family with 3 children; 0-5 months, toddler, and 7 year old, also for a family with a 2 year old toddler. I am also a mother of 2 beautiful daughters who are now 14 and 18.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Love to read to them, go for walks, do puzzles, play games with them (memory is my favorite), take them to story time at the library, go out on adventures, meet other families for play dates, babies I love to sing to them, show them baby Einstein, and introduce them to colors, animals and new words
The most important part about being a nanny...
To be kind. I feel like that is the most important part about taking care of children. In my opinion kindness helps them feel secure and safe. Which gives them the space to really thrive.
My experience with special needs children...
Both my two daughters have learning disabilities. One has high functioning autism and ADHD so I have had to learn how she learns. And how to communicate with a child who interprets communication differently. My younger daughter also has a learning disability ADHD. Since at a very young age about 6 years old she she has needed much support in her focusing abilities, and patience bringing her back on track with her tasks. They are both teenagers now and I still am learning everyday how to best support them and communicate with them so they feel heard and understand.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Taking my 2 year old little boy I was a nanny for to see a real train! He got to climb on it and check out all of the components of the inside of the train. Unbelievable experience I will never forget. The joy he experienced that day has always stuck with me.
