A little bit about me

Hello families! I’ve been working in childcare/early childhood education field for 30 years. I have worked with every age group and have most of my experience as a head pre-k teacher. I also raised three girls who are now women as a single parent. I love working with children and think becoming a nanny would be a great way to still have them part of my work life where I could apply all my years of early childhood development studies and training. I’m looking for a Monday to Friday position with the end of the day being no later than 6pm and would not be available on the weekends. I’m very comfortable with any errands you would need done during the day, light housecleaning, laundry, am comfortable with all manner of pets and love to cook so meal preparation would be welcomed. Cooking is actually a great way for children to learn a multitude of things and a great sensory experience. I’m looking forward to this next step and finding a family I can support.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve been in the early childhood education field since 1996. I have worked with every age group that attends daycare/preschool which is typically birth to 5 years. I also have experience with older children up to age 12 in before and after care programs along with summer programs. I am also a mother to three young women ages 17-23.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My favorite activities to do with children are music, art and sensory experiences. I love to make homemade play dough and slime with them. Children learn through play and with hands on materials so I enjoy giving them those even if it means getting dirty. I love to be outside in nature with them and a lot of the times bring our classroom activities outside to include that element. I enjoy making learning things like letters and numbers fun by singing songs and using props to make learning them more engaging. Most of all I like to be silly with them and make sure they always feel safe and secure with me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me the most important thing about working with children is making them feel safe with me, confident in themselves and completely accepted by me in every way to be their authentic self.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children with special needs during my career. Many of my experiences have been behavioral challenges some that required observations that led to creating or following IEP’s. I have some experience with children on the spectrum and have the patience and understanding of their needs. Also I’m always happily willing to learn how to care for children with any developmental needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don’t have a favorite nanny moment as I’ve never done it before but my favorite moments as a preschool teacher have been when a child just randomly says they love me because that means I’m doing the best I can for them and they feel loved back.
