When I was teaching Pre-K, we did a science activity in the month of October using pumpkins. The kids had to make an hypothesis on whether or not their pumpkins, would float or sink in water. Since the children felt all their pumpkins were heavy, their immediate response was to say the pumpkins would sink. To their surprise, once we placed them in the water, they all floated to the top! The look on their faces was priceless every time!
