A little bit about us

We are a very busy family with a lot of working parts. All of the children are well mannered and most often self sufficient outside of the the 4 year old and 1 year old. They don't require a lot of direction as they are all pretty precocious. They like structure and someone who is capable of managing time. They enjoy going for walks, going to the park, arts and crafts, as well as baking. They are home schooled and sometimes need help with homework. There are days where there may be no assistance needed due to Mom being home from work. However, there are days where over night care is necessary due to Mom's work and travel schedule. We are looking for someone who can be available for vacation travel. This may mean part-time sporadic care, but dates can be provided ahead of time. We are looking for someone with a clean background. No history of tardiness, leaving jobs without proper notice, no previous job terminations, or abuse history. We enjoy people who plan to take their job seriously and feel as if they are a part of the family and will care for the children as if they were their own.

We’re Ethan and Helen, first-time parents in Park Slope, looking for a warm, experienced nanny for our son. He’ll be about 6 months old when the job starts in early January.

We both work hybrid schedules, so one of us is sometimes working from home. We’ll give you space to lead the day while staying close and easy to reach. The job is 40 hours a week, Monday–Friday, with full days midweek and shorter Mondays and Fridays.

We pay on the books, weekly, with paid time off and holidays. We’re looking for someone with infant experience who enjoys getting out to the park, library and classes nearby, and who wants a long-term role with a family that values clear communication and respect.

Our older son goes to school until 3pm and our younger son is expected to start school next year. At that point, we will need a nanny m-f from approximately 12-7. My daughter is 14 month old and we are looking for a baby of similar or a little older age 15+ months!

About Sandra:
Sandra holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and brings genuine warmth and love to her care of the kids every day. She's endlessly creative with age-appropriate developmental activities, and she's an excellent communicator, always keeping us in the loop on milestones, routines, and how the day went. She creates weekly menus with grocery lists and prepares healthy meals and snacks, prioritizing exposure to a wide variety of foods. She's always keen to do activities, like music classes or story time at the library, and incredibly responsive to requests.

Schedule:
Monday–Thursday, 9:00am–5:30pm
Friday, 9:00am–4:00pm
Weekly Total: 41 hours

Available starting anytime in September.

Cost:
$16/hr per family ($32/hr total to Sandra), which includes paid federal holidays and 2 weeks of paid vacation per year.

Location:
border of Crown Heights & Bed-Stuy, near the Nostrand Ave station.

Spanish Immersion:
This is a hard requirement: Sandra speaks with the children in Spanish only as part of our commitment to bilingual immersion. She is bilingual in Spanish and English, so communication with parents is never an issue.
