A little bit about us

Hi! We’re the Sykes family, moving to Daniel Island from Ottawa, Canada, at the end of November. We have two sweet, energetic children ; Ian, who is 7 and in second grade, and Isla, who is 3 and will attend preschool in the mornings, as well as a friendly Australian Labradoodle named Daisy.

We’re looking for a warm, dependable part-time nanny to join our family in the afternoons. The role would include preschool pickup and spending time with Isla, followed by school pickup for Ian. We’d love to find someone who enjoys being active, playing outdoors, visiting local parks and creating a fun, caring & safe environment for the kids.

We’re excited to settle into the Daniel Island community and hope to find someone who will feel like a trusted extension of our family!

We've had two wonderful Nanny's before and are happy to provide references to make sure we find the right fit for our family <3

A little bit about us

We are a warm, energetic family living in downtown Charleston with three children: kind, active big brothers Oscar (9) and Felix (6), and Annabelle (3) a bright, curious toddler who loves routine and connection.

We’re looking for a professional nanny / mother’s helper who can partner with us in creating a calm, structured, and well‑run home. We value warmth and rapport, but equally value safety, consistency, and reliability. We are looking for someone who understands child development, supports routines, and helps reinforce expectations in a loving, steady way. The role is hours as posted but ramping up for summer coverage.

We also have one very well‑behaved indoor cat.

What Are After-School Nanny Jobs?

After-school nanny jobs are part-time positions that cover weekday afternoons, usually from school pickup until early evening. They fit nannies who want a regular schedule, students, and people with other commitments in the morning.

Types of After-School Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Typical duties include school or bus-stop pickup, snacks, homework help, activities and lessons, and sometimes dinner. Some jobs include a few mornings or school holidays too. Check the school pickup time, the days per week, and whether driving is required.

How to Interview for After-School Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • What time is school pickup, and which days do you need care?
  • Will I drive, and is a car seat or vehicle provided?
  • How do you handle early dismissals and school holidays?
  • What are the children's activities and routines?
  • Is dinner or light housekeeping part of the job?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
