A little bit about us

I'm looking for a regular babysitter to help with my 22 month old daughter, about 15 hours a week. I am a homemaker and have flexible hours, but ideally this person would be able to come two or three afternoons during the week and 4-5 hours during the weekend. My daughter is really very easy going and happy. The job will involve just playing with her while I get some time to myself, with some occasional light housework (mostly help with tidying up toys, etc., at the end of the day).

Previous experience with toddlers required; Mandarin-speaking and relatively local to Pasadena preferred. We live near Old Town Pasadena and Ambassador Gardens.

We are looking for someone that can come during the mornings 3-5 times a week just for 2-4 hours. This would include feeding her and just playing with her.
We also have a dog that lives indoor with us.

A little bit about us

We're looking for an older native Spanish speaking nanny for our two year old boy that follows the montessori method. You will be preparing a lot of sensory activities, read a lot of books in Spanish and spend a lot of time outside. We would want you to speak to him exclusively in Spanish, despite him replying to you in English. We prefer morning hours and part time, but are open to expand the hours for the right person.

What Are Bilingual Nanny Jobs?

Bilingual nanny jobs are positions where speaking a second language is a valued part of the role. Families may want their children to learn a language, keep up a language spoken at home, or communicate with a grandparent or relative. Your language skills can set you apart from other candidates and may support a higher rate.

Types of Bilingual Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Some families want you to speak only the second language with the children, and others want a mix throughout the day. Responsibilities can include childcare, meals, activities, and reading and playing in the second language. Jobs can be full-time, part-time, or live-in, so check the schedule and expectations in each posting.

How to Interview for Bilingual Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • Which language do you want me to use, and how often?
  • How fluent do you expect me to be?
  • Do the children already speak the language?
  • Are there other adults in the home who speak it?
  • Is language teaching part of the role, or just everyday conversation?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
