What Are House Manager/Nanny Jobs?

House Manager/Nanny jobs combine childcare with household management or family assistant duties. They suit experienced nannies who enjoy organizing, planning, and running a household, and who want a broader role with more responsibility.

Types of House Manager/Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Duties may include meal planning, laundry, errands, scheduling, and coordinating other household help, alongside caring for the children. Some roles are mostly childcare with a few household tasks, and others are mostly management. Check how the time is split, the hours, and the pay for the combined duties.

How to Interview for House Manager/Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • How is time split between childcare and household tasks?
  • Which household tasks are included, and which are not?
  • Will I manage or coordinate other staff or contractors?
  • How is pay set for the combined role?
  • Is there a written job description?
