A little bit about us

We are looking for a professional, proactive, and reliable Household Manager/Nanny to help manage our household and care for our two boys. As a Household Manager, you will be responsible for completing household management tasks such as laundry, dishes, restocking, running errands, coordinating kids' schedule, and assisting with other household duties. Also, you will be responsible for providing outstanding care to our boys when they are not school. We need someone who is organized and able to manage their time efficiently.

About the Children: Our boys (6 & 8) are two sweet and curious kids. They are driven and energetic (no more than the typical elementary aged boy) and need lots of physical activity to get tired enough to sleep well through the night.

About the family: Parents are divorced (but completely amicable) with the father living in Eastport, Annapolis and the mother in Arnold, Annapolis (about 10-15 minutes from each other) and have joint custody of the children (50/50%). Both non-smokers, no pets, and live in single-family homes.

Their Ideal Nanny:
- Must have experience as a nanny or household manager.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to teach children and provide homework oversight
- Ability to prepare nutritious meals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Job Details: An ideal nanny would be great with children, with a talent for both intellectual and physical development, and who is kind, empathetic, and gentle. Can do personal assisting tasks like coordinating schedules. Our nanny would act as a household assistant to both parents. Compensation: $25-30 based on experience.

Duties:

Childcare:
Plan and organize daily activities to promote their development and ensure they are engaged and stimulated.
Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to provided recipes.
Take kids to and from appointments, activities, school and playdates.

What Are House Manager/Nanny Jobs?

House Manager/Nanny jobs combine childcare with household management or family assistant duties. They suit experienced nannies who enjoy organizing, planning, and running a household, and who want a broader role with more responsibility.

Types of House Manager/Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Duties may include meal planning, laundry, errands, scheduling, and coordinating other household help, alongside caring for the children. Some roles are mostly childcare with a few household tasks, and others are mostly management. Check how the time is split, the hours, and the pay for the combined duties.

How to Interview for House Manager/Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • How is time split between childcare and household tasks?
  • Which household tasks are included, and which are not?
  • Will I manage or coordinate other staff or contractors?
  • How is pay set for the combined role?
  • Is there a written job description?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative.
