More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My first ever job was a full-time nanny during a summer, then I began to care for the children after school. I have also worked at a YMCA as a childcare worker and summer camp counselor caring for kids from 6 weeks-13 years of age. In my last year of high school, I volunteered as a 1st grade school teacher assistant in my free time. Now I am a college student majoring in Psychology with a minor in Child Development in hopes to become a Child Life Specialist.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
As I am learning more about children development in school, I love to provide activities to further their learning and development. Most importantly my job will require me to remain health and safety to your child, but I also find it so important for them to have fun while learning. I have learned games and activities appropriate for different ages and stages of a child's life. So I will do my best to provide that for them always.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny to me, is the bond with the child/children. I never want to just be seen as someone simply watching them until their primary caregiver gets back home. I want to be someone the child looks up to, trusts, and feels close and comfortable too. I will always put the child's needs first and will do my best to give them my all. I love working with children and providing the tools and resources, as well as my knowledge to further their development and learning.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a brother who is Autistic. So I grew experiencing that behavior first hand. Mostly, it is because of him that I have learned patience, kindness, and the realization that every individual is unique and deserving of attention and love. I also volunteered to be a helper every year for special olympics and have worked with special needs kids with my experience of working at the YMCA.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Overall in working with kids, not just as a nanny, I love the moment when a child has that "aha" realization. When a lightbulb has turned on in an experience and they get so happy and proud of themselves in learning something new. I believe this strengthens the bond with a child as well.
