A little bit about me

I'm Addy, a college student majoring in Psychology with an interest in Education. I have over 5 years of various childcare and early education experience including daycare services, being an elementary school TA, a substitute caregiver position with an agency (providing care to relieve permanent nannies and give mom and dad the occasional helping hand)-- and most recently I spent January-July of 2023 with the most wonderful infant who is soon going into daycare. Owing to the opportunities I've been fortunate to have, I have worked with a diverse range of families and children varying in race, ethnicity, age, socioeconomic status, and capabilities. I most enjoy working with infants and toddlers!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a TA for an elementary school in Granada Hills, CA. I was assigned to a kindergarten classroom of roughly 22 children where I aided their teacher in classroom organization, lesson prep, small group exercises, and answered questions during independent work.

My most notable work was small group exercises where I worked with two to three kindergarten age students, our practice focused on phonetics and reading skills.

Due to COVID, the school had recess and lunch split up into staggering periods. When I wasn't in the classroom, I supervised five other 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade classes of 20-30 students while they ate and played on the yard.

Prior to that my childcare experience consisted of interpersonal and family childcare as well as working as a youth group leader and daycare manager for Inspire World Ministries in Northridge, CA. I led and taught youth group weekly and provided infant and toddler care for church members during Sunday service from [phone number hidden].

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love art based activities for all ages! I'm partial to singing and playing instruments, but I also enjoy arts and crafts! Depending on the age I will propose anything from coloring and painting to crocheting and using a sewing machine. I also love taking walks and going to the park with younger kids and teaching older kids to cook and bake.

My experience with special needs children...

I have minimal experience with special needs children. I've provided on-call and substitute nannying care for children on the autism spectrum as well as had students with special needs, but no long term experience.
