A little bit about me

Hi, I'm a new mom myself and have a 4 month old daughter. I have also helped raise my special needs step son for the last 7 years now. I'm experienced in ofcourse most special needs but also behavioral issues as well. I am not cpr certified yet, but im willing to meal prep, help with home work, and plan fun activities with the kids. I really would prefer to baby sit in my own home due to my daughter being so little, it would be difficult to lug around all her things I'd need during the day for her. As far as occasional baby sitting, i could then come to your home as long as it's not too far away or really late at night. I do not prefer to have to drive anyone's kids around at all really, I find it a huge responsibility that i wouldn't feel that comfortable with. I am also able to teach education to the younger kids who aren't yet in school.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I volunteered at a place called Stage West. It is a drama play studio and my job was to work with kids between the ages of 4-13. We practice lines, we helped.make all the props for on stage together which was a learning moment for them. I was back stage crew so I assisted In costume and makeup. I also was the person who handled any emotional meltdowns.of being nervous behind curtains. It was an amazing experience and I'd do it again..

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing arts and crafts to see the child's natural expressions put into art. I love doing outside activities such as playing games, soft sports, coloring with chalk. I even sometimes will take the indoor crafty project outside to enjoy the fresh air.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Providing a safe, comfortable environment for the children to grow day to day and also to learn things. It's super important you build that foundation of trust not just with the kids but with their parents as well. You also should always respect what rules and boundaries the parents set for their children.

My experience with special needs children...

My step son is an 8 year old with special needs disorders. He was diagnosed by 2.5 with severe adhd, oppositional defiance disorder as well as conduct disorder by age 5. I have seen it all truthfully. Tantrums, violence, aggression, defiance, meltdowns, screaming fits, being developmentally delayed, etc. I've also take TWO parenting classes during his life to help me, help him..

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments was when my girlfriends son who I used to babysit finally opened up to me. He was a very shy quiet toddler, he didn't talk much to people besides his mom and he wouldn't play with you or hug you etc. Well one day after I began watching him, he saw that I pulled up to the house and when I got out he ran to me and yelled "Maimee" amd hugged me tight. ( that how Aimee came out with his speech) lol

It was such an awesome moment that I had tears in my eyes. Persistence is key to be honest. I would just sit with him and play quietly by myself but with him and over time he saw I was a nice good person. To this day his mother and I are best friends and he's 5 now. He still gets excited when I come over and watch him ♡
