A little bit about me

I am a dependable, patient, caring, and genuine person who has always enjoyed being around children. Before COVID-19, from 2017 to 2020, I babysat and worked as a nanny for families in my church and neighborhood. Since then, I have continued working with children through my professional experiences, including my work with AmeriCorps and ICRI, where I support youth ages 7–18. I have also worked as an Assistant Family Teacher with Boys Town, which taught me a lot about patience, responsibility, communication, and creating structure for young people.
Beyond what I have learned from my jobs, I think one of the things that makes me good with children is that I am comfortable being myself around them. Children are naturally welcoming and curious, and I never feel like I have to pretend to be someone I am not around them. I love that children are willing to ask questions, talk about their interests, and be curious about just about everything under the sun.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My childcare experience started with babysitting and nannying for families in my church and neighborhood from 2017 to 2020, where I helped care for children and supported families with their childcare needs. I enjoyed getting to know each child's personality and creating a comfortable environment where they could have fun while still following expectations and routines.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing activities that allow children to have fun, be creative, and learn at the same time. I especially enjoy STEM activities, educational games, board games, arts and crafts, helping with homework, and activities that allow children to explore their curiosity. I also enjoy being active with children through sports and outdoor activities. I played soccer, so I understand how much children can enjoy having the opportunity to run around, play, work as a team, and build confidence.
Honestly, though, one of my favorite things to do with children is simply talk to them. Children can turn almost anything into a conversation, and I enjoy listening to their stories, questions, ideas, and sometimes their very funny explanations of how they see the world. I think those conversations are just as important as planned activities because they help build trust and allow me to understand the child's personality and interests.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, caring, and trusting environment where a child can be themselves. Children need someone who will take care of them, but they also need someone who will listen to them, respect them, encourage them, and give them appropriate structure and boundaries.
It is about getting to know the child as an individual and understanding what makes them happy, curious, comfortable, and confident. I want children to feel like they can talk to me, ask questions, make mistakes, learn, and be themselves without feeling judged.
I also believe that being a nanny means being willing to learn from the child. Children are naturally curious and willing to talk about everything, and I genuinely enjoy that about them. I have learned so much from working with children because they remind me to stay curious, ask questions, enjoy the little things, and look at situations from a different perspective.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience has primarily involved working with children and youth who have different personalities, learning styles, behavioral needs, and individual circumstances. Through my professional experiences, I have learned that children do not all communicate or respond to situations in the same way, so I try to be patient, observant, and flexible in my approach. I understand the importance of maintaining routines, communicating clearly, providing appropriate boundaries, and treating every child with dignity and respect.
I am also comfortable learning about a child's individual needs and following the guidance provided by their parents, caregivers, teachers, or other professionals. While I would never claim experience I do not have, I am someone who is willing to learn and adapt to what a child needs to feel safe, comfortable, and supported.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite memories from being a nanny/babysitter was when the church signed the kids up for a drumming camp. I remember watching these little humans sit together, learning how to play their drums and trying to figure out how to make the same rhythmic beats at the same time. It was honestly one of the sweetest things to watch because at first everyone was doing their own thing, and slowly they started listening to each other, following the rhythm, and working together.
What made the moment so memorable for me was seeing how much they were learning without even realizing it. They were learning patience, teamwork, listening, coordination, and how to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Hi moms! I’m looking to pick up a nannying or babysitting position and wanted to post here in case anyone is looking for childcare! I’m 18 and currently a freshman at UNO studying Pre-Medical Imaging. I’ve worked as a lifeguard at a pool in my hometown, so I’m CPR certified, and I also have my CNA. I’m an aunt as well and have plenty of nannying and babysitting experience with children of different ages. I’m especially interested in finding a family who may need regular weekday childcare, but I’m also available for date nights, weekends, or occasional babysitting depending on your needs and our schedules. I have reliable transportation and can provide references! I’m located in the Omaha area but don’t mind driving to surrounding areas. Feel free to message me if you’re interested or would like to chat and see if I’d be a good fit for your family!
