A little bit about me

My name is Ajuné, I'm 21, and I'm a student at Cornell University. I'm majoring in Psychology in order to become a child psychologist. I have a lot of experience as a babysitter, nanny, and preschool assistant teacher. I've always been great with younger children and have felt like they gravitate towards me. Their sweet, innocent energy makes me feel at peace. I had my first recurrent, independent babysitting gig at about 11 with a 2-year-old boy, and my first gig with a 1-year-old girl a year later, both of which went very well. Since then, I've babysat multiple other little girls and boys of various ages (2 months+), needs (including special needs), and personalities. I have experience sitting up to 3 children at a time but have supervised more as an assistant preschool teacher. I do not have a car, but I have a driver's license. Otherwise, I'll use the bus and/or rideshare services to get to and from your place. I look forward to serving your family!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking kids out for a day of fun. We may end up at the library, the museum, the playground, the pool, a mini golf course, an escape room, etc! I try to switch up the activities we do in order to maintain some degree of novelty and excitement.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny (or child caregiver in general) is meeting children where they are developmentally. Fair expectations for children makes for appropriate and meaningful interactions.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for two children with nonverbal autism and one child with a speech delay and possible autism. I played with them, fed them, and helped them with toileting. I still remember those children fondly!

The most important part about being a nanny...

It's hard to pick just one favorite nanny moment, but one of them would have to be the first time one of my kiddos gave me a hug. There's something so special to me about breaking the affection barrier with a child that I care for. It means they're truly comfortable with me and they feel the genuine love and care that I have for them.
