A little bit about me

I’m Alexa, I’m 18 years old and I absolutely love kids. I currently attend Virginia Tech and am pursuing degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology. My junior year of high school I took a class that allowed me to be a preschool teacher for kids ages 3-5. Throughout this class I designed and executed lesson plans in subjects such as Art, Math, Reading, Science, and Introductory Spanish. I also planned and budgeted weekly kid friendly snacks for the children. I passed my Workplace Readiness exam at the end of the course and am certified to work in daycares and preschools. I have a lot of babysitting experience and I am able to provide references from the preschool and families I have babysat for in the past. I have my drivers license and own a car so transportation is no concern and I can also pick up and drop off your children as required. I am willing to do meal prep, run errands, prepare meals/snacks, and do light housecleaning. I am First Aide and CPR certified through the Red Cross.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As a nanny, I like engaging with the kids I work with as opposed to primarily using screen time. When inside with kids I like to color, read books, play board games, engage in kid friendly games like tag, hide and go seek, or make believe. I also love to cook and bake and enjoy making simple snacks and desserts that the kids can help me make. When outside I like to go for walks, go to the park or playground, in the summer I bring kids to the pool, play with sidewalk chalk, ride bikes or scooters, play catch, and more. I prefer to avoid screens, but will occasionally leave a TV on quiet volume for background noise and watch a movie with the kids before bed to wind down.
