I love keeping children active, engaged, and having fun! Some of my favorite activities include playing outside, going to the park, reading books together, playing I Spy, going on walks, exploring nature, playing simple outdoor games, and coming up with creative games and activities that encourage their imagination. I enjoy finding activities that are both fun and age-appropriate while giving children opportunities to learn and explore.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is knowing that I am helping shape a child’s early development in a positive way. I believe it is important to help children build confidence, kindness, respect, and a sense of independence while making sure they feel safe, supported, and encouraged. Being able to positively influence a child during such an important stage of their life is something I find incredibly meaningful.
My experience with special needs children...
Although I have not had professional childcare experience specifically with children with special needs, I attended an inclusive school throughout my education and grew up around children with a variety of abilities, including children on the autism spectrum. Having classmates and friends with different needs from a young age taught me the importance of patience, understanding, empathy, and adapting my communication to each individual child. These experiences also helped me learn how to remain calm and supportive when a child becomes overwhelmed and how to help de-escalate situations in a respectful and compassionate way.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments as a nanny was when one of the children I cared for learned how to swim. It was so sweet and rewarding to watch him gain confidence and accomplish something he had been working toward. Afterward, he was so excited that he wanted to swim all the time! Seeing his excitement and being able to be there to support him as he learned was such a special moment for me.
