A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Alex, and I absolutely love getting to know kids and watching their unique personalities blossom. I've spent the past decade in the Asheville area. For the past year, I've had the incredible experience of being a full-time nanny for a wonderful little girl, starting when she was just 2 weeks old. It's been such a joy to witness her development and support her in learning new skills. She's now in daycare, but I continue to occasionally care for her as she grows.

Beyond my nanny experience, I’ve also worked as a classroom teacher and have a strong background in caring for children aged 0-10. With my experience, I’ve had the chance to get to know kids at all different ages. Whether they're infants or curious school-aged kids, I make sure they feel supported and engaged in ways that are just right for them. I'm passionate about creating a positive, supportive environment where kids can thrive, and I’m committed to being there for both them and their families every step of the way.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have a degree in Environmental Education, and during college, I spent a lot of time working directly with kids of various ages, from kindergarten to high school. One of my favorite projects was starting a school garden with a 6th-grade class at an elementary school. I loved teaching them about plants and seeing their excitement as the garden grew. I also helped lead a science club for third graders, where I got to teach in their classroom every week. These experiences really fueled my passion for working with kids and supporting their learning and growth in hands-on, meaningful ways.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love getting creative with kids, especially through art. As an artist myself, it’s really fun to explore their imagination and see what they come up with. I also really enjoyed teaching natural science and gardening to kids—there's nothing quite like seeing their excitement and curiosity when they learn something new about the world around them. Since I'm an outdoorsy person, I’d love to go on walks or hikes with the kids, depending on their age and interest. Plus, I have a sweet dog who could join in on the fun if that’s something they’d enjoy!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is really getting to know the child—understanding their unique personality and supporting their growth in a way that suits them best. It's about being a safe and caring presence, someone they can rely on. Building trust with both the child and the parents is key, so everyone feels safe, supported, and confident in the care being provided.

My experience with special needs children...

In high school, I participated in the "Best Buddies" program, where I was paired with a special needs peer. It was a meaningful experience, and I enjoyed building that connection. While I don’t have a lot of experience in this area, I’m definitely open to working with special needs children and learning more about how to support them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was with the little girl I cared for during her first year of life. She’s such a determined little one—every time she was learning a new skill, like rolling over, crawling, or walking, she’d focus on it so intensely and wouldn’t stop until she got it. She developed so quickly! One day, after not seeing her for about a week, I was with her, and suddenly she could walk while holding my hand! We spent the entire afternoon walking around the house and going up and down the stairs. It was such a special moment to share in her progress and see her determination pay off.

Meg R. - Seeking Work in Asheville

Part-Time Nanny Available in Asheville, NC: Meg R.

Hey there,

I am a ceramic artist and educator with a passion for making creative spaces. I have been working as a certified and trained in-home care provider since 2016. I am comfortable with children from the ages of 2 months and upwards, and I have experience working with multiples and children with special needs. I am always willing to meet the child and family where they are and grow from there.
I love to spend time outdoors and like to stay moving - I consider myself a self starter. I don't use screen time as play, and would much rather go for a walk to the park, pick up a book from the library, or make up a game.

Looking forward to new connections!
