I was a teacher/teacher aide for the YMCA. I worked as a daycare helper for 0-11 month kiddos. I also have nannied with 4 families. I’m currently an afterschool director for the YMCA, at a site where I oversee 200+ kids and 15 staff.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Is being another role model for the kids, teaching them things new or right from wrong. Making good decisions and growing as a person. Teaching them that they get to be their own person, and nobody can stop them.
My experience with special needs children...
I currently work with 3 autistic children, from the ages 5, 10 and 13. I also have cared for many kids at the YMCA with different special needs. Lastly, I have an aunt who is disabled that I've helped watch or take care of for my grandmother at times.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To be honest, there's too many. I've worked with so many kids, in so many different environments that every kid is different, but my favorite is seeing their faces light up when you walk in through the door because they're excited to see you.
