More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered at an elementary school in Monroe, NC for about 2 years! My duties was mainly as an after school counselor but I also helped organize/clean the areas after closing and planned fun, educational activities before childcare took place.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being outdoors!
Going on nature walks, going for a swim, hitting up a local playground, and tossing around a ball (even though I am a bit athletically challenged) are definitely all in my forte.
I also love doing crafts!
Any chance to get a little messy in the name of art is always something I will enjoy- don’t worry all messes made will be cleaned up!
Lastly, I am a huge film and book nerd and will never turn down a good show/movie or an opportunity for story time.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny is creating a comfortable and trusting environment.
As a nanny, my main duty is to care for children and ensure their safety but it is vital to create personal relationships where the child feels respected, loved, and comfortable to learn and grow alongside me.
As a nanny, I know that parents/guardians are entrusting me with their most prized and loved possession- so my answer of creating a trusting and comfortable environment is 100% extended to my relationship with them as well. If the parents/guardians cannot trust and have faith in my abilities then the entire foundation of being nanny is compromised. That is why I make it my mission to make everyone feel safe, respected, and comfortable :)

My experience with special needs children...
I have mainly had experience with children with Autism, Down syndrome, and Diabetes!
I have worked a camp called Boomerang which is specifically for children with low-high functioning special needs disorders.
In this camp I mainly taught swim lessons to the kids but always have an extra hand if needed throughout the day.
At the YMCA, kids with special needs are always allowed in all of our camps so I’ve also had my fair share working with them during aquatics camp, sports camp, and art camp. I’ve also taught 1:1 private lessons with both high functioning and low functioning kids for two-three week periods at a time :)

This isn’t one particular moment but my heart warms when my kiddos tell me they want to be a nanny/counselor just like me when they grow up :)
