The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, the most important part is being there for your child when you are unable to. I grew up with a single working mother so I understand how lonely it can feel as a child while your parent is busy. I want your child to have fun, but I think the most important thing is that they feel supported, safe, and comfortable with me.
My experience with special needs children...
I volunteered throughout highschool assisting special education kids with physical and music therapy. The family I primarily babysat for in Arizona had a daughter with autism and a couple of physical disabilities. She had a heart condition and her knees would dislocate easily so I had to know how to relocate them quickly and administer her medication in a timely manner. The family I currently nanny full time for has a 9 year old daughter with ADHD.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The nine-year-old girl I nanny full time learned how to ride a bike without her training wheels while she was with me last summer. It was so exciting seeing the look on her face when she realized she was doing it all on her own!
