The most important part of being a nanny, for me, is the daily reminder that my job is to simply be kind. It’s a grounding principle that extends beyond my work—when life feels overwhelming or I’m caught up in the rush of the day, I return to that mindset: be kind, be present. This role has not only been deeply rewarding in itself, but it’s also enriched my life, my relationship with my own son, and the values I carry into every space I step into. It’s more than a job—it’s a practice in mindfulness, patience, and love.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments in my current nanny position is a little habit the child I care for has developed. No matter the time of day—even if it’s early in the morning—whenever she catches sight of her parents, she’ll look at me and cheerfully say, “Bye-bye!” It’s a small but hilarious reminder of how children view the world and relationships, and moments like these make this work so joyful and memorable.
