More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
🌻Babysat in high school. Volunteered for Vacation Bible School + children’s ministry at a local church; hired by the church as a babysitter during group meetings.
🌻After high school: employed at a private school as a classroom floater and after-school teacher; I worked with toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and 4th graders. Also volunteered and job-shadowed at a local daycare for several months for various age groups.
🌻In college: preschool tutor/classroom aide for 3.5yrs, worked both one-on-one with students and in groups. Babysat one of my preschool students + his elementary-aged siblings, and provided occasional babysitting for my professors. Also did Camp Teams one summer (travelled to summer camps with a team to work as group leaders/camp counselors for middle schoolers + high schoolers).
🌻After college: kindergarten paraprofessional, then Boys & Girls Club of the Heartland as a Membership Coordinator/Youth Development Professional with elementary students.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I value hands-on activities the most; anything to encourage their creativity, critical thinking, sensory exploration, personal interests & fine/complex motor skills is what I aim for! Cooking/baking, reading/storytelling, arts & crafts, singing & dancing, playing outside/nature exploration are all things I enjoy doing with children. I also enjoy fun little outings in the community!
The most important part about being a nanny...
For me, the most important part of being a nanny is growing a healthy relationship with the child & family built on respect, trust, humility, & joy. This relationship is fundamental, not only for the comfort & security of the family, but also for the wellbeing & development of the child.
I also believe the nanny’s approach to childcare is vital, that the approach should be holistic in nature; it’s not simply about passing the time while family is busy, but about playing an important role in the child’s overall development:
🌟Physically: providing healthy nutritious meals & allowing them plenty of opportunities to run, play, move, strengthen their motor skills (also promoting good sleep & hygiene habits)
🌟Cognitively: limiting screen time & fostering more opportunities to explore hobbies, interests, new subjects & hands-on skills
🌟Behaviorally/Emotionally: helping to guide them through emotional regulation & personal choices.

My experience with special needs children...
My older sister has special needs, for many months I volunteered at her day program for special needs/disabled adults. I have more experience with special needs adults than children.
In college I job-shadowed the Special Ed classrooms at the local early childhood center, and also once volunteered in the SPED classroom at a church.
I have engaged with several both verbal and non-verbal autistic children, as well as Down syndrome, but have not spent a substantial amount of time working one-on-one with them.
In my time working as a preschool classroom aide, as well as with BGC (Boys & Girls Club) the majority of experience I’ve had with special needs children is behavioral-related.
At my current job, I am around special needs children quite often, as I am located in the SPED hallway of an elementary school, but I do not work directly with them since I am working for BGC.

Babysitter Available in Poplar Bluff, MO: Amber S.
Born and raised in SEMO, I'm fairly familiar with the area. I have a decade's experience working with children in mental/behavioral health from ages 4-19, as well as additional years experience with other ages, as my parents were foster parents from the time I was 12-20 years old. Experience with babies, as well! I love the kiddos and being silly with them and playing games. Can pass background check, CPR and first aid certified. I have reliable transportation, that is fully insured. I am currently attending Three River's College for business administration, and would be more than happy to discuss your needs with you to see if we are a good fit 😊 I do work part time, so I have to work around that schedule so my days are not set, but I'm happy to help any time I can!

I absolutely love to care for kids they are the best part of our lives simple as that. I have cared for many of people's children in the past and everyone that I have worked for always had great things to say to me and about me. I absolutely love to learn new things and I absolutely love to teach anything and everything that I can to help the children widen their vocabulary and I love to read and am actually been told I'm a pretty good teacher at showing others how to read. All n all I love to care for children and out of any other job that I could be doing I would chose to take care of kids.
