The most important part about being a nanny...
To me the most important part of being a nanny is making a connection with not only the little ones, but the family as well. I think being a companion to both the children and family allows the opportunity for more effective communication and a better environment for the little ones.
My experience with special needs children...
I have taken care of a few children who are on the ASD during my time working in the nursery, as well as volunteering along side paraprofessionals in the Vail School District.
The most important part about being a nanny...
At the nursery, we had one child who was extremely quite and would not engage much with the other children. One day I finally found an activity that made the child laugh and run around. It was turning the lights off while everyone hid around the room, and would turn the lights on randomly to find everyone. I was so happy to see him finally opening up and becoming more comfortable. Apparently he had even started doing the activity at home and was having a blast.
