A little bit about me

Hello families! As someone who has a passion for child care, I am willing to go above and beyond for your kiddos. I have babysitting experience dating back to when I was 16, but I did so regularly throughout college for many families. I am 22 years old and have my B.A. in English as well as Economics. I also have my M.S. in AI & Business Analytics. I have a variety of volunteer experience involving caring for children including 2 preschools, assisting with children’s programs at the library, Largo summer camps, and tutoring. I am more than happy to prepare meals and clean up around the house, drive kid(s) to and from extracurriculars, help with homework, etc. Personally, I am organized, patient, and enjoy making things fun! I have 5 nephews and 1 niece, so I also grew up taking care of children. I am ideally looking for a full time position with benefits. P.S. My CPR/First Aid certification recently expired, but I will absolutely renew it if I am able to find a position!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I grew up babysitting for my sisters and have experience with newborns through babysitting their children. When I was 16/17, I babysat for a family regularly. In college I regularly took babysitting jobs and also had a regular position 3 times a week for one family. I picked up their daughter from school, took her to extracurriculars, activities on the weekends, etc.
I have volunteered at two preschools where I assisted teachers in classrooms and outside.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I particularly enjoy reading with children (no matter the age of a child) as I have a passion for reading myself. I am quite passionate about children's education, so I love taking kids to museums or any educational event. I used to take my nanny-kid to the science museum at UF when I went there! I also am experienced in different forms of art, so arts and crafts are always fun and I love seeing what they come up with! I also enjoy outdoor time with kids when weather permits (Park, sports, etc.) - Usually that's a hit with them as well!

The most important part about being a nanny...

As I always tell the kids I sit for, safety is my number 1! Of course, having fun is up there as well, but safety is the most important. I also think that being honest and patient with kids is important, especially when telling them no. I always make sure to explain why!

My experience with special needs children...

As stated in the volunteering section, I have volunteered at two preschools where I assisted teachers in classrooms and outside. During this time, I often spent extra time with individual children who have autism, so I have some experience from this. These children were 3-4 years old and I spent time reading and speaking with them at an individual level.
I was also a teen leader at a summer camp where I assisted with group activities M-F. I also have experience with children who have special needs through this as there were 2 autistic children in my group who frequently required more attention. I spent time with them individually often. Some examples of this included removing ourselves from an overwhelming environment if needed and a lot of sitting and talking individually.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The first time I babysat for one family, I was playing with their son (2 y/o), and he switched to speaking Spanish out of nowhere. I had no idea that he spoke Spanish, so this was quite a surprise to me. I thought it was hilarious, so of course he did as well.
