A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Amelia. I’ve been working in various childcare capacities for the last 5 years expanding my experience with ages 6 weeks - 16 years. I started out working at the YMCA 5 years ago for what was supposed to be a fun summer job working with our special needs children within the summer camp program. Through that position, I quickly developed a passion for creating safe spaces to foster a lifelong love of learning and play, and knew it would not just be a summer gig. I have since worked as a nanny with multiple families in long term and short term capacities, as the Lead Infant teacher for a preschool in U-City, and as a Music teacher for ages 6 weeks to 6 years of age in a Chesterfield preschool and Kindergarten, and hold current CPR and First aid Certifications as well as having had training in inclusion care. Ideally, I would love a full time position where I could grow with the family, but am more than flexible. I look forward to hearing more about your family’s needs!

I worked as an inclusion counselor for the YMCA of Greater Saint Louis for 2+ years creating and adjusting programing to suit a variety of needs as well as growing up with my own special needs brother who sparked my passion for diversity and inclusion.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments have been learning with the kiddos. I am passionate about creating opportunities to learn through play organically, and I love finding ways to nurture curiosity and include whatever we're interested in at the time! One example of this would be when I was caring for a little girl who loved pirates, but did not love holding a pencil. We'd set a goal to work on our tracing, so I pre-made a pirate map and we traced our way to the treasure! We had so much fun we made treasure maps everyday for a week.
