A little bit about me

Dear prospective parents,

I hope this intro finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share some relevant information about my background. My name is Amy Britz and I relocated to STL from MI at the age of 23. I made the move with my former husband.

I am proud to say that I am a devoted parent to three wonderful children, Harper (23), Avery (21), and Soren (17). Although my ex-husband and I divorced a decade ago, we have managed to maintain a strong co-parenting relationship, thanks to years of professional guidance and a shared commitment to our children's well-being.

Professionally, I started my career in childcare during high school and continued with a nanny agency upon relocating. Over time, I have independently built a remarkable clientele in family care, serving in various capacities.

In terms of education, I graduated from Fontbonne University in 2008, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education.

"Amy is passionate about arts and crafts, accommodating for the special needs of the child, and spending time outdoors. She would bring craft ideas or special toys. Several times she baked cookies or made special treats with our daughters. Amy loves to create sidewalk chalk art. She does her best to spend time outdoors everyday with our children when weather permits, which has also included scavenger hunts, going on walks, swimming in our kiddie pool, water sprinklers, bubbles, and walking to the park. Amy would also plan out more tactile crafts specifically for my daughter’s special needs. One day they molded play dough flowers onto paper, using different types of finger movements to make the different flowers. I’d like to express my keen interest in pursuing a career opportunity with an esteemed family. As a dedicated professional, I embarked on my teaching journey at University City High School, through Special School District. During my five years as a full-time paraprofessional, I successfully pursued my Bachelor of Science in Special Education.

Furthermore, I gained valuable experience at University City Middle School, as a student teacher, followed by a fulfilling term as a perma-sub for the district. Most recently, I contributed to Bright Beginnings Preschool and Daycare, where I catered to children of varying ages, from newborns to preschoolers.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love doing crafts, painting, play-doh, puppets, imaginary play, baking, hide and seek, board and card games, are some just off the top of my head and outside the fun is endless. I enjoy water play, chalk art, walks, bike rides, swimming, playground visits, hop scotch, basketball, soccer, tennis, are also just some of the activities I have enjoyed playing with the children I have cared for.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Supervising!!! Nothing is more important and knowing that some days are just kind of harder days than others when kids are just having a bad day, I never forget that when times are tough and kids want a little more space and independence to play, supervision is always a must!

My experience with special needs children...

I possess a Bachelor's degree in special education and certification in mild moderate cross categorical disabilities. I have extensive experience working with children who have special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I enjoy so many moments but some of my favorites have been welcoming home parents from a vacation with decorations, cookies, and a surprise “welcome home” song made with the children. Also, putting on a puppet show for the children’s neighbors in their backyard on a little stage we had made out of some old pallets I was able to bring for the occasion.
