More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I spent most of my teenage years babysitting, and that gave me experience working with kids of all ages which I greatly appreciated. As I got older, I started working in a pre-school that I continue to work at seasonally. At this center, I teach primarily in the three year old and Pre-k classrooms. It was there I discovered my passion for teaching kids in and out of the classroom setting and for providing a safe place for each and every one of my kids!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My favorite activity is reading to kids! I like to read to them whenever I can because the benefits for language development are undeniable, and I've found that kids really enjoy feeling connected to you in that way. I am also very creative, so I love any activity that helps me show that side of myself. Previously, I have done crafting, baking, and even making up silly games to play with the kids in my care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part about being a nanny is providing a safe space for the children where they feel comfortable being themselves. This also builds mutual respect with the children in my care, and that gives us the opportunity to build a trusting and secure relationship.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment was actually with a child in one of my pre-k classrooms. One day at work, he started calling me his "school mommy", and when I asked him why, he said that it was because I loved him and his pterodactyl stuffed animal. This child had a lot of behavior difficulties and seldom made connections with other kids or even teachers. In addition, because he kept to himself a lot of the time, that pterodactyl was his lifeline and he was very protective of it. So, when he started calling me his "school mommy", I had never felt so honored. For a child that had a hard time trusting others, he felt safe and loved by me, even though I had never said those words, and that is why this memory is one of my most cherished.
