Making sure child’s needs are met , patience is a must because children may be learning something or experiencing something for first time compared to an adult. To have fun with the kids . To be there for the child and keep them entertained while with them and that it’s a pleasant experience
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with autism spectrum disorder , knowing the importance of routine, how specific interests may be only topic they talk about, that they have to warm up to you before interacting. That social interaction is difficult because can’t read social cues . That autistic individuals are naturally very blunt and genuinely mean no harm in their very direct and literal verbiage. That children and adults on the spectrum can take things very literal. That stuff needs to be broken down when explaining something otherwise it may not be understood. That when something bothers an autistic individual the brain loops it and will focus on the topic. That autism is a spectrum and there’s varying levels of assistance needed that high functioning doesn’t mean they don’t experience all the autism traits it means they experience them at differing degrees.

Being able to be the first person a nonverbal autistic child said a full sentence too and receiving a hug.
