More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have volunteered as a teacher assistants through a summer school program and during the school year in an elementary school. where I worked with preschoolers. I have also been a camp counselor at Camp to Belong working with foster care youth.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts and crafts, reading, engaging in activities in the community, helping with homework, cooking, sports, and baking!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Engaging children through activities both mental and physical. These activities include, art and crafts, helping with homework, reading, games, puzzles, sports, going into the community (if old enough) to engage in activities in the community. For example, libraries or book stores usually have scavenger hunts set up for kids to participate in! I do not like to have the children watch T.V while I am there. You are paying me to engage your children and it is not fair for you if I place them in front of a screen.
My experience with special needs children...
While volunteering as a teacher assistant during a summer school program for elementary school I was assigned to a young girl who was one the autism spectrum. She had trouble when there was too much stimulus and required constant breaks from the group setting and needed individualized attention through projects and that is what I provided for her while the teacher was able to teach the rest of the class.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was picking cherries with a set of seven your old girl twins. I climb the tree and reached for cherries they could not reach and I dropped them down and they would yell, "TIMBER" and would race to catch the cherries in their basket. We then went back home and baked a healthy vanilla cherry cake and ate them out in the sun. It was a lovely day.
