A little bit about me

Hi I'm Angie-I'm the eldest child of four and proud auntie of four, with five years of relevant professional experience in childcare. In some past positions I've worked as an assistant at a daycare, as a TA at a Montessori/Head Start preschool, as a nanny for infants and toddlers and as a caregiver for special needs kids ages 0-18 with a focus on behavioral therapy for several kids of different ages on the autism spectrum. I enjoy engaging and playing with kids of all ages and assisting their parents and families with daily activities. I love teaching, singing and reading to kids, and have used the Hooked On Phonics program to improve kids reading skills with great success. All together I have over 25 years of combined professional experience in both elder care and childcare, at times doing both simultaneously. I also offer cooking, meal prep and housekeeping tailored to family or individual needs. My main priority is always your children's safety, comfort and well-being at all times.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've worked in childcare in a professional capacity off & on between, during and sometimes as an additional part of my elder care assignments over the years. Most of the families were assigned thru various care agencies, with the exception of the Berger family, whose young grandson I babysat when they visited. I'm also trained in BLS, AED, CPR, Infant CPR and First Aid; however, my certifications are out of date. I'm willing to get recertified and up to date if preferred. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy playing indoors and outdoors, outings to parks and museums, especially children's museums with interactive exhibits, teaching, singing, reading to kids, helping with homework and arts & crafts projects.

The most important part about being a nanny...

In my work as a caregiver for kids, the main focus is the safety of the children in my care, which prioritizes constant supervision, injury prevention and consistent engagement. It's also equally important that the children feel safe and comfortable in my presence, and I find that usually comes naturally, as kids tend to warm up to me quickly.

My experience with special needs children...

I've worked with many special needs, developmentally disabled and autistic kids; both verbal and nonverbal, from one end of the spectrum (catatonic) to the other (high-functioning Asperger's). Some of my clients have included kids with paraplegia, cleft palate, epilepsy, Prader-Willi syndrome and ADHD. I have served as an advocate and mandatory reporter in my work as a caregiver for special needs youth ages 0-18 and have helped families coordinate their care plans, build care networks and access resources to simplify and streamline their lives. I've also provided respite care hours subsidized by the state or county so that parents can have some much needed personal time and run necessary errands, knowing their children are in good hands.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Directing/choreographing a song & dance number for two sisters ages 6 and 8, which they performed for their parents when they arrived back home from a 3 day weekend vacation. The kids had fun and so did I, and of course, the parents loved it.
