More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have 5 years experience babysitting. I’ve worked with children between the ages of 2 and 16.
I spent 6 months as the Lead Research Intern at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain. I worked with a team of doctors, researchers, and interns to administer social & developmental testing for children ages 0-5.
I have spent 5 summers working as a Summer Camp Teacher. My responsibilities have included curriculum development, leading arts, play, & educational enrichment activities, and supervising field trips.
I have also worked as an Intern Youth Mentor to high school students. I planned and delivered weekly curriculum, built relationships with students, promoted academic success, & guided them through questions regarding college.
I taught dance classes to children in my neighborhood. I ran two groups, one with children aged 4-7 and one with children aged 7-9.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Personally, I love doing any form of creative expression with children, whether that be crafts, drawing, or singing.
On my first meeting with a child, I bring a small toolbox of some things I believe they may enjoy. I then ask the child if they would like to do an activity from the box or some other activity and allow them to make the choice (within reason)! I am a big believer in child led activities and think this can be a great way to give children some agency, while also helping those kids who are a bit more shy or hesitant feel excited by the novelty of the toolbox activities.

My experience with special needs children...
I have been around neurodivergent people my whole life and my academic focus has been on neurodivergence, neurodevelopmental disorders, and their interactions with health. I am also the Vice President of the University of Minnesota’s Disabled Student Cultural Center.
I was the Lead Research Intern at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain. In the clinic, the team of doctors, researchers, and interns conducted developmental and attachment testing for children who were either medically complex, developmentally delayed, or referred for suspected neurodivergency. A large part of my job was to care for the children as parents completed questionnaires or spoke with the doctors.
I also worked as a counselor in training where I was the one-on-one aide for a suspected child with autism.
