More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have babysat for several families since the age of 12. I still have very loving and healthy relationships with those who I have cared for in the past. I absolutely adore children as they are the light in my life! I am accepting, loving, kind, focused and growth-driven! I have tutored students in many subjects for three consecutive years and have helped numerous students grow and succeed! I am fluent in English, ASL, and semi-fluent in Spanish. I was a full-time live-in nanny for a family with three young girls for several years as well! I now work primarily with special needs students of all ages and severities! I aim to work with all children in a way that encourages growth including mental/emotional stimulation, exceeding the often low held expectation of being simply a supervising adult. I have worked with students who were deemed non-verbal, and helped them learn to use their voices and words to communicate for the first time. I am confident I will be an asset to your kiddos!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am very artistic, I love to draw, paint, and create! I also love the outdoors, traveling, sports, hikes and so on. I am entirely open to participating in absolutely anything that will put a ear-to-ear smile on a child's face! As long as the kids are happy, I'm happy!
The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters most to me as a nanny, is love, growth and happiness! I love to see kiddos grow and thrive in their environments! It brings me so much joy to see kids happy and I think it is so important to teach kids how to truly love! I strive to stimulate kids mental and emotionally, always challenging them to grow and expand their knowledge and abilities. It’s the most powerful time in their lives when it comes to information absorption and instilling potentially life-long habits; so let’s make the most of it! I also think that being a solid role model for children is crucial during their beginning stages of life, as they follow what they see. I consider myself a very good role model as I display drive, love, kindness, discipline, healthy habits and most importantly appropriate fun!
My experience with special needs children...
I have spent a year with special needs children at my high school. I spent my lunches with them and helped with communication growth, general needs and simply keeping them company! I very much enjoyed this program and I am sad to say that my second year was cut short due to COVID-19... :( I hope to spend more time with these children in my future! UPDATE: I have been working with special needs kids in the public school system for three consecutive years now, going on four. I have a very solid understanding of my job and of how special needs kids deserve to be treated and cared for. I have a phenomenal and long-lasting relationships with the kids I’ve worked with. I have been considered a great asset to the classrooms I’ve worked in and can provide references as requested! :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
One memory that will just always bring tears to my eyes is when the two little boys I was caring for, both put all their piggy-bank savings together that they had been saving up for months and they bought me my favorite flowers! I cried for nearly ten minutes with them both grinning in my embrace...I will NEVER forget that beautiful moment for the rest of my life!
