More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

As a dance instructor and choreographer, I have not only spent time teaching dance but also traveling and coaching. I've had the chance to develop lasting relationships with my students and become a mentor for them in their scholastic/ personal life as well as their athletic life. As a camp counselor, I've learned about what it really means to care for both a child's physical needs and their mental/emotional needs. Over my three summers of work, I've grown very comfortable aiding children in their daily living as well as serving children with special needs/ability differences. I have been blessed with the opportunity to support children with a variety of needs from total care to full independence.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love helping children explore the world around them. Outside time is often my favorite time spent with children, but I also love pushing them to tap into their creativity. I believe in getting creative, making messes, and finding the art in ordinary things, but I also believe in taking responsibility for putting everything back when it belongs when you're done. Balance is key!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure children are safe while offering them enrichment opportunities. Life lessons and learning are all around us, pointing those things out to little ones can be world-changing for them!

My experience with special needs children...

My three years of summer camp have taught me a lot, not just through experience, but through intense training and mentorship. I've learned how to comfortably shower children of many ages, change briefs, use appropriate transfer methods, help a child count carbs/manage their blood sugar, clean port/other sensitive areas, dress comfortably and efficiently, and assist with feeding. Because of the special position I was in, I had the chance to learn what it takes to chare for a child with special needs physically, mentally and emotionally. Bottom line, when caring for a child facing special needs or ability differences my number one priority is encouraging independence, comfort and safety.
