*this one is a sad moment but it still sticks with me to this day*
There was one moment I was caring for 2 siblings (7 & 10), parents were going through a divorce and the oldest child was showing clear signs of that affecting him. I can’t remember what led to this moment, but I asked him if it was okay for me to come in his bedroom. He had been crying and opened up to me about how he felt so sad, he felt worthless, he didn’t want to be alive anymore. I asked if he needed a hug, if he wanted me to rub his back or if he wanted me to leave and he cried even harder and gave me the tightest hug. I told him he’s none of those negative things, it’s okay to feel sad about what’s going on, and that he needs to tell his mom these feelings. When I left that day he gave me another hug and told me he appreciates me being there for him and that moment has continued to stick with me.
