A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Anna!

Originally from Colorado, I moved out to Tennessee to pursue my career in Property and Casualty Insurance. On the side, I also run a freelance photography business which keeps me busy on the weekends with weddings during the spring and fall.

I am a strong Catholic and understand not every family I work for holds the same theological beliefs. The basic Christian ideologies I do hope to instill in the children I get the opportunity to watch. I am very open with speaking about what the faith in your household looks like to see if we may be a fit for each other.

I am a strong athlete as well, I have completed a full Ironman triathlon. I still compete in triathlons and volleyball tournaments. I believe sports are vital to a child's development to teach children many lessons. I have recently gotten into ninja warrior classes as well.

On the flip side, I come from a musical family so I am a theater kid through and through. ◡̈

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I began as a mom helper for household cleaning and infant assistance when I was in middle school. I have been babysitting since then and a big part of why I was always booked from my families was the fact I enjoy interacting with children and not just sitting in front of screens. I have run summer camps for children and currently enjoy my free time helping my sister with her 4 children under 4yrs. I have also done some work with special needs children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Depending on the age of the children, I really enjoy being outside. I often love nature walks, going to the park, playing in the backyard, baking, going to the library, reading books, coloring, making at home science experiments, arts and crafts, swimming or splash pad, dance parties, geocaching with older children, playdate meet ups with other friends, beading, climbing, setting up little obstacles. I really dislike just sitting down and watching shows or playing on ipads. I believe having moving nights all together as a family activity is healthy; however, I do believe it is important for children to build on their creativity and not have constant stimulus.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters to me most about being a nanny is building kids with strong characters and taking away stress from the parents. I desire for the children I watch to grow up knowing how to treat others with kindness, manage ever changing emotions, learn how to problem solve, have a fun childhood with great family memories and do well in school/sports/theater. As far as the parents, the most important part for me is to remove the stress over worrying about their kids or simple house chores.

My experience with special needs children...

I have babysat for two children with special needs. One was a young girl with autism and the other was a toddler with cerebral palsy. I would consider myself patient and understanding when it comes to special needs as they just need more time to process - they are some of the brightest kids I know. I tend to find sensory bins great for younger children and depending on the child an ipad with educational challenges. I don't treat them any differently than I would other children I watch other than patience while they express their needs and more attentiveness to reading body language and emotions.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I would say my favorite nanny moment was when I got to watch the girl I had been watching since she was born giving her valedictorian speech to her elementary school. Getting to watch the little girl I helped raise be the top of her class after watching her for over 10 years was very rewarding.

I am a 56 year old Franklin, Tn mom of two - my daughter is 19 (a college cheerleader) and my son is 22. I currently work in the YPlay childcare at the YMCA. I homeschooled my lower level autistic son from 1st through 12th grade.

I love being around children and value the opportunity to assist in the growth of a child. I prefer to work with children who are being taught to respect others. My children have turned out to be wonderful people, and I take credit in their own amazing success and personalities. Raise a child in the way that they should go and they will never depart from it.

Before working at the Y, I worked part-time as an independent contractor ~ Uber Pro driver, and a Diamond Shopper with Instacart and maintained a 5 star rating. Before marriage and children, I worked for the Nashville Police Dept as a 911 operator and dispatcher for 10 years, and worked as a Shift Lead at Starbucks for 4 years after that.

In my free time, I am a writer and a Canva creator.
