I am a mother. My son, Ryan, is grown and lives nearby. I enjoy hiking/walking, kayaking, baking, and yoga.
I have a 30-year background working in education and mental health. I started with a BS in Psych/Special Education with an initial MO teacher certification in emotional/behavior disorders K-12. I got my Master's in Education: Special Education, focusing on autism and early childhood/ec SpEd with additional MO state teacher certifications in early childhood/ec SpEd Birth through 3 grade. Over the decades, I have worked with young children in various settings including the DoD, state programs, schools, and mental health providers.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked in several state EC programs providing intake services, screenings, evaluation team member, child service provider, case manager, and behavioral coach.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I will plan activities around the child's age, maturity, preferences, skills, likes/dislikes, and goals. Outdoor play is important for various reasons and the benefits are usually innumerable. Indoor activities may include family goals and typical life skill development and practice. Along with books, games, and play.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Building a strong foundation during early development is critical to establishing healthy self-esteem and a life-long love for growth and learning. Every child deserves to know they are important. Every child is important.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with children from birth through high school in EC programs, as a school teacher, and as a mental health provider in Head Start and EC Head Start programs. I have direct experience working with children from various backgrounds city and rural, and all ages and nearly all ability levels. My services have primarily been focused on autism, EC/ECSpED, and as a behavioral/mental health coach/teacher in family homes, schools, and daycares.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I enjoy letting the kids take the lead. It's wonderful and wild to watch and interact with children when they are truly in the zone. When the dress-up clothes come out, the hair and makeup, play dough, bubbles, or the cars/trains are laid out on the tracks the magic starts to happen. Children are innately creative and imaginative. When they get to be in charge of the conversation and the moment they are testing their wings. Growing and learning happens all day every day. The lessons learned easier and quicker are the most memorable ones...those memories are my favorite.
