A little bit about me

In my years as a preschool teacher at the BP Early Learning Center in Anchorage Alaska, I got to work with children of every age group. I taught a music class for 3-6-year-olds and designed a curriculum based on the needs of each child. I had the opportunity to work with infants, toddlers, and young children. My philosophy with every age group is to always keep the children engaged. I am not a passive caregiver. Whether it is through music, play, or helping with homework my goal is to always be present with the kids and meet their emotional and learning needs. One of my favorite quotes about childcare is this, "Children only do two things: they ask for love or they ask for help." I believe a good amount of behavioral issues can be prevented through constant engagement and/or redirection. The rest can be understood by listening and providing them with alternative options. With a little bit of creative thinking there is always a solution!
