A little bit about me

I'm Ashley! I'm 30, married and a dog mom to 3 dogs. I'm born and raised in Washington State. I'm a Seahawks fan, a big reader and animal lover.

I started working with babies when I was about 12 years old in the nursery at church. Grew up the neighborhood babysitter. In college I had several part-time Nanny positions and a full-time position with an infant my senior year.

More recently, I have 2 nephews, one with medial needs, that I've been a big part of their lives. I've also regular watched a little girl from when she was 4 (she's 6 now) a few days a week, plus a lot of other short term gigs.

I've also been working with Young Life the last 2 years. I plan fun events for the teens and be a consistent adult in their lives.

When I'm with your kids I like to be active. I like to create age appropriate activities that encourage growth and development. I like to go places, park, beach, zoo and keep them busy and engaged.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being more than a fun friend. While you want to be someone the kids look forward to seeing, it's also important that you are consistent with the parents. As a nanny you are part of the parenting team, that means communicating with the parents, respecting their rules and boundaries and help show the kids a consistent front.

My experience with special needs children...

I had a short term gig with two boys who had autism. My nephew had cerebral palsy and has a trach and feeding tube. I watch him once a week.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The little girl I watched regularly for two years. One day when she was 5 and still in preschool I picked her up from school. About 5 minutes down the road she declares that she had her first kiss. I asked her how that made her feel and she said good, they were gonna get married tomorrow. So hard to not laugh so she was so serious.
