A little bit about me

Growing up in a family of 6 the role of a second mother to my two younger siblings soon became normal to me. In high school my parents confidence in my ability to watch my siblings soon turn into overnight babysitting while they traveled the world. By doing this my love for child care began and I started watching the neighbor kids here and there while their parents enjoyed a night out. Recently the past 2.5 years I nannied for a family of 7 with a wide age rage, 17 who is death and special needs, 11, 9, and newborn. Nannying these 4 kids while difficult at times brought back all the joy I had when watching my own siblings. During my time with them we enjoyed many trips to the beach, day adventures to big bear, discovered tons of new parks, and had our far share of dance parties in the living room.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

During high school I was a tennis coach for the Special Olympics. What started as a head start community service hours for graduation during my sophomore year turned into a reoccurring position every year with each year gaining more freedom on how I ran our hour and a half practices. By junior year my hours were complete but I gained so much knowledge on leading a group of 4 incredible children that I had to continue my senior year!
This gave me the valuable opportunity to learn how to communicate and lead a group who all had personal intellectual needs that had to be met.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Any activities your child/children love to do I’d be more than happy to participate in! Some of the activities I do for babies include plenty of tummy time, walks around the neighborhood or park, get them to engage with their toys/ sensory objects, and sing and dance to get them to laugh and smile. For the older kiddos my favorite at home activities are card/board games, draw/paint, hide and seek, building a fort, playing games in the pool (if there’s a pool) and any other random games we come up to keep them entertained. If the parents are okay with me taking the kids out my favorite places to take the kids is the beach where we can jump in the waves, build sand castles, and search fit sea shells. I Also enjoy taking them to parks to go on the swings or to race down the slides.

My experience with special needs children...

I coached the Special Olympics for three years.
My most recent nannying position the oldest sibling is deaf and autistic and during my first year with them him and I spent a majority of the time with virtual school.
